WASHINGTON -- AP
Congress heard top-secret briefings on President Bush's plans for an unconventional war against terrorists on Tuesday as the Pentagon ordered 2,000 more reservists to duty. In a diplomatic victory for the United States, Saudi Arabia cut ties to Afghanistan's Taliban rulers.

Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Americans are in for a long, brutal struggle.

"It will be difficult. It will be dangerous," he said.

Osama bin Laden's terrorist group said Washington should think twice about attacking.

"Wherever there are Americans and Jews, they will be targeted," said a statement issued by Naseer Ahmed Mujahed, chief military commander for bin Laden's al-Qaida network.

Bush firmed up plans to tighten airport security and reassure anxious travelers. The options included fortifying cockpit doors and increasing air marshals on flights.

He said America will not flinch in the face of danger.
