The issue of the flag on athletic uniforms came up recently when some teams put flag patches on as part of the general memorial.
Local veteran's groups did not object, pointing out that the flag display rules are guidelines, not laws.
The veteran's groups said that the overriding consideration was that the flag was displayed with respect.
