Crimes need to be reported for people to know about them.
Admittedly, the violent crime rate in Europe as a whole has risen with the take-down of the Iron Curtain. ...Nearly 10 years ago?
Question, though. Is there any truth at all to the page Frank posted? I know there is always danger of crime, but it would seem to me that the easiest victims would be people who aren't supposed to exist, such as illegal immigrants. They might not speak the language, in this case Dutch, and besides, they probably wouldn't want the police looking too deeply into their own papers -- or the lack thereof. Crimes could therefore be occurring constantly, but without ever being reported to the authorities for analyses.
