Wars make for strange allies, sometimes.
Following the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, staunch anti-communist Winston Churchill immediately offered Stalin support in their war against Germany. When asked about it, Churchill replied, "If Hitler invaded Hell, I should at least make a favorable reference to the Devil in the House of Commons."
The so-called War on Drugs has caused us to create some unusual alliances and some unfortunate enemies. For all of the effort, it isn't working. One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and somehow expecting a different outcome.
