He doesn't hate us either. He is annoyed as only a man who's had a foot blown off in a war can be. Sounds more like he has an issues with inconsistency and incompetence, not specifically with America except insofar as America exhibits such behaviors.
And he has something indispensible to a man considering a leadership position in what is basically a tribal coalition: family connections to various factions. Trust-building is essential.
