Re: Bleach, etc...

A LIST:

(1) Be careful what you buy in supermarkets.

* Always!

(2) Obtain & store supplies of canned food, and other nonperishables.

* Yes, sir. Already started since it's hurricane season.

(3) Purchase large stocks of concentrated bleach [preferably the
powder bleach; easier to store indefinitely]....BLEACH WILL KILL ANTHRAX SPORES that may settle on clothing, walls, floors, roofs, car exteriors, etc...!

* I LOVE bleach. The humidity here has a tendency to harbor mold of various kinds and I enjoy erradicating them... for a while at least. I have to admit that I've not purchased powered bleach before.

(4) Avoid buying newspapers, tabloids, magazines for a while.

* I've refused to touch or read a tabloid magazine. Same goes for soap operas.

(5) Have your local US Postal Service
either hold off mail and parcel shipments, or else BUY a powerful
ULTRAVIOLET LAMP to kill bacteria
on mail that arrives at your door.

* Hadn't thought of that one.

(6) Turn away strangers from your
frontdoor for the time being, regardless of how rude it seems.

* I always turn away strangers by 'not opening the door'. I know they feel a right to knock on my door, but I also have the right not to open it. :)

(7) Bottled water is OK, portable water filtration systems are better.

* Thanks. Reverse Osmosis is great.. bottled or otherwise.

(8) Related to # 6, purchase a legal firearm, if you feel you need to, so as to keep away suspiciously-acting strangers who you may feel pose a threat to your neighbourhood.

* We're legally packing, but not to move out. :)
As it is in Texas, one can obtain a permit to carry.

(9) Keep a handkerchief, soaked in "human safe" germicide, close by.

* hmm

Disposable latex gloves a must, too.

* Noted... have a good stock of those.

(10) Keep a cellphone nearby, and keep up-to-date with the "latest" events
on the internet.

* Those are pretty popular already.

Keeping up with the news has always been a habit of mine. I'm getting to be a pro at sifting the good news from the bad news lately (thanks to most of you here as well!).

I'm glad they re-openned our bases here after hurricane Andrew!

Yes, I've thought of Kim and Co. lately too.

Thank you, Jake.
