>Defiant War-Cry From bin Laden
Thursday, October 11, 2001
By Damon Johnston / The Courier-Mail

"This is the crusade that Bush had promised us coming to Afghanistan against the Islamic nation and the Afghan people.”

New York -- Queensland Newspapers
Osama bin Laden issued another chillingly defiant war-cry yesterday, repeating his call for all Muslims to rise up against America.

Despite three days of strikes by US and British aircraft and missiles, the prime suspect in the September 11 terror attacks said thousands of young Muslims were willing to sacrifice their lives in a holy war.

He delivered the message through a spokesman, Suliman Abu Gheith.

"They must know that by coming to . . . Afghanistan they have opened a new page of animosity between us," Abu Gheith said.

"We will fight them with everything we have. Americans have opened the door that will never be closed."
