The simple fact is that these Arab leaders are not doing a very good job at leading. Some are in difficult situations, but these are mostly of their making, and aren't mustering the courage neccessary to do "the right thing", nor do they have the desire or will to change present to make a better future.
Arab leaders need to address the fundemental problems- and that has to do with "power". They need to work towards an environment in which "the people" have more control over their nation's future. Democracy is not a "choice" or "preference".
And they should use "the West" or even force "the West" to move in this direction, rather than the another way around [the western powers have little power in changing Arab (or any other) internal politics nor have any incentive (dictators are easier to deal with).
