I was impressed with the article. He pointed out that Moslems have more freedom here and in Europe than they do in their home countries. He also pointed out what would've happened in his home country of India had such a terrorist attack occurred. He stated that thousands of Moslems would've been slaughtered in the aftermath. There were a few isolated incidents here with one or two senseless murders of Middle Eastern people, but those have been universally condemned by everyone from President Bush on down.
I do wish more respected and influential Moslem scholars and clerics would speak out against the attacks and the ideology behind them. From all that I've read, bin Laden's message is a blasphemy of Islamic teachings and the Koran. About the only reason I can think of as to why more have not condemned that message is fear of retribution.
