Spoken like someone who has never worn a military uniform

or put his own ass on the line. I'm pretty sure you'd feel less enthusiastic about fighting inside caves if it was your life or your son's life on the line.

The American way of war is to use technology in order to keep our casualties as low as possible. The Japanese felt we fought "unfair" when we used tanks, machine guns, air attacks, and ship bombardment against them and their Bonzai charges. The North Koreans and Chinese used human wave assaults during the Korean War. We answered with technology (massed fire from everything capable of throwing lead). In Vietnam, the VC and NVA sometimes used wave assaults, too. We never used that tactic. That's one reason why we lost 58,000 men in Vietnam compared to 2-3 million from the other side.

We don't fight wars on the enemy's terms or using their tactics. Doing so would be foolish. We learned that hard lesson during our Civil War and the insanity of WWI. When it comes to war, I'll trade treasure (the cost of weapons) over blood any day.
