Re: A hotbed of peace . . .

“Smart bombs are not smart.”

She was probably a philosophy major.

No, even the philosophy is faulty. Obviously, her sign is in error. A smart bomb has a brain, as opposed to the human-dependant trigger of a hand grenade, therefore it is smarter than a grenade. Now you can adjust the environment of the grenade so it will appear intelligent, such as devising a tripwire or pressure trigger for the grenade, but it’s still just a dumb devise.

I have nothing against peace demonstrations, and I do cheer them on, but I think these brainwashed puppets ought to do a little more research than is found in print and find out just what it is they’re protesting.

Couldn’t be the retaliation itself, after all they voted to condemn the New York and Washington attacks (clever move).

Maybe it’s the idea of bringing bin Laden to justice? No, that couldn’t be it either.

I think it’s about casualties of war, namely civilians (and they’re always the “innocent” civilians), who always seem to work or live in close proximity to enemy camps. Hey, if you’re not a supporter of the Taliban, it might be a good idea to at least try to leave the U.S. Target Zone. It's possible the target may decide to move with you, but at least try.

Then there are the displaced lives of the refugees in their flight to Pakistan (always Pakistan -- makes you wonder what’s going on at the other borders...). Tent cities have sprung up all along the Pakistan border with new residents seeking asylum.

The hit on the Red Cross storehouse that injured a worker was an issue, as was the misdirected flight of 1 smart bomb that flew approx. 1 mile off target, killing I believe 4 civilians.

Anyway, the demand is for military action. There is no other resolution available. To attempt negotiations is to state there is a government in Afghanistan, and there obviously is not. The ruling class is nothing more than a marauding band of cutthroats (the old Hole in the Wall Gang has finally been found, and Marshal Dillon has decided to pay them a call).

Anyway, it’s nice to have Berkeley’s backing the nation's endeavors. Changing the wording in their request to end the bombing from “immediately” to "as quickly as possible" is appreciated as well -- and it will end “as quickly as possible.” All that is required is the unconditional surrender of the al Qaeda, the Taliban, and Osama bin Laden -- and it is very obvious that the U.S. is working very strenuously toward this goal.
