"The only problem we've really had is blowing sand. A lot of people came back with ordnance that night. If there's any question, there's no question. You don't drop."

ON BOARD THE USS CARL VINSON -- Reuters
Jets from the U.S. aircraft carrier Carl Vinson have dropped more than 300,000 pounds of bombs over Afghanistan since Oct. 7 as part of the campaign against Osama bin Laden and the Taliban, the admiral in charge of the U.S. task force said on Thursday.

"The air crew are doing a superb job. They have been very accurate and they are doing great work in preparing the battlefield for whatever operations may take place in the future," Rear Adm. Tom Zelibor told the crew of the Carl Vinson over the ship's public address system.

"This ship alone has dropped over 300,000 pounds of ordnance so far in the war in Afghanistan. That's an incredible amount," he said.
