Frank is more generous in his assessment than I would be. Inaccurate is one thing, but the entire tone of the article reeks of defeatism that is not warranted by the actual situation.
The article begins by listing the acronyms for military failure. Why? We haven't failed yet. Then we follow up with a nice long list of past military failures. Don't forget to mention Viet Nam.
Throw in a nice little dig about the troops "dutifully saluting" Bush. The word "reluctantly" is not there, but certainly implied*. Toss in a few negative comments by military men. Point out that the military is not saying they know where bin Laden is, as if the first people they would tell would be the press.
Now, a nice paragraph about how the bombing campaign didn't really accomplish anything important, and how air power is rarely decisive.
This goes on and on, with a few brief positive notes on the excellent ground forces that we are able to bring to this war.
The overwhelming tone of the article: "We're in trouble here. We're going to lose."
Geez, it used to be that Tokyo Rose broadcast from foreign countries.
*"He's NOT the real President! He's NOT! He's NOT! He's NOT!!"
