We've used both types of bombers along with B-1s against Afghanistan. B-2s were used on the opening bombing attacks. They flew all the way from their base in Whiteman AFB, bombed their targets, then flew on to Diego Garcia. B-1s and B-52s flew from Diego Garcia to attack their targets.
Given the fact that we've pretty well destroyed what little air defenses that ever existed in Afghanistan, B-2s aren't really called for much anymore. B-52s are great at carpet bombing things like troop concentrations when they can be found. However, the Taliban troops are very close (< 1/4th mile) from the NA troops. We've already had at least one "friendly fire" incident where we accidentally attacked NA positions last week. It's hard to carpet bomb close to friendlies.
Part of the problem is that we aren't being allowed to fly combat missions from bases near the fighting. That keeps us from using some of our best ground attack planes like the A-10 and F-16. The F-15E Strike Eagles are having to fly all the way from Oman to hit their targets. Until we can get closer airfields, close air support will be difficult and so will logistics supporting any ground troops.

He's wrong about the B-2s and B-52s
