One gets the impression that certain people in and out of the media keep confusing this complex war with a mini-series that has overstayed its welcome.

The war that began at the World Trade Center is now being fought in Afghanistan, through the mails and in an international media world that is vulnerable to propaganda.

As bombs drop in a wilderness overseas, anthrax is being mailed to the highest government officials and to some of the best known people in the media. Postal workers are understandably more paranoid than they have ever been. They want thoroughly tested work environments, and correctly so. Doing that will slow mail handling, but that is the cost of this kind of combat -- especially since a Manhattan hospital worker has just died from inhalation anthrax.

Then there is travel. Some people I know can no longer endure the suspense of traveling by car, train or bus, especially when it's across a bridge or through a tunnel. And, of course, anyone who gets on a commercial flight either prays fervently or becomes stoic and sits in a state of suppressed panic until the plane's wheels touch down.

Actually, a fairly good write-up -- until you get to the last paragraph. His apparent dislike of Mr. Stern is understandable, but I don’t really think it belonged here.
