The Air Force implemented "Stop Loss" in early October
A Stop Loss order essentially halts retirements in critical skills.
You're still not grasping the essential numbers of the situation. How many civilian airports would have to be guarded? (Dozens to a few hundred, depending on how far down the commuter airline chain you're willing to go.) How many people would it take to guard each one? (From a dozen or so for a smaller airport to hundreds for a major hub like DIA or Atlanta.) If you use military personnel like APs to do that job, who'll be left to guard the military bases? (No one).
