Like ebnelson points out, when the elected government is in charge of deciding who gets campaign money, you can pretty much see where the whole thing is going. You can kiss third parties goodbye for sure, as if there wasn't enough crap designed to keep them off the ballots.
But of course nullifying the election process and turning into a Soviet-style farce is exactly what the totalitarians in our government want.
