The key will be splitting the true Afghan Taliban from the fanatical Arab and Paki (foreign) Al Queda

There are signs that the "real" Afghans, even the Pashtun Taliban supporters, are growing increasingly weary of their guest OBL. I'd look for more and more Afghans to break away from the Taliban. Trouble is, the hard core of the Taliban-Al Queda is the more fanatical Arab and Pakistani foreign supporters of Bin Laden who've practically taken over the Taliban government. They will be a lot tougher, and aren't vulnerable to the Afghan tribal intrigue and politics we can use to our advantage elsewhere. These Jihad fanatics will fight to the death, and so we must accomodate that desire...and it will take a while, I'm afraid. My hunch is 6-12 months, and thousands of US ground troops, before final victory in Afghanistan, that is the complete defeat of Al Queda and the Taliban.
