“We have been particularly proud of your efforts on your travels throughout the Middle East and the Arab world to clarify the West's position that this is not a struggle between the West and Islam,” Jordan's King Abdullah told Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Pakistan president General Pervez Musharraf, in London for talks with Prime Minister Tony Blair, said he favours a "short and targeted military campaign" against the Taleban.

The Pakistani leader stressed, however, that his country would remain part of the international coalition against terrorism until its strategic objectives were attained.

Earlier, General Musharraf had renewed his call for the US-led coalition to halt bombing in Afghanistan during Ramadan on a stop-over in Paris.

British and US defence chiefs have signalled their intention to continue military action throughout the holy Muslim month, which begins on November 17.
