The pilot of the next jet in the queue at JFK reported a smoke trail from one of the engines.

Speculation continues, including a witness stating an engine fell off the craft.

There was even mention that a helicopter in the area might have shot it down. Funny that the same helicopter is still in the area circling the crash though (shades of the Flight 800 crap).

There was apparently no call from the plane before it went down, but I imagine folks were pretty busy...
