- it occurred in the same city, New York
- the plane is operated by the same airliner
- most multiple engine aircraft are designed to fly perfectly well with a 'one engine out' condition
- landing & takeoff conditions are almost identical except for engine throttling
- if the turbine spool disintegrates at high rpm the engine should not separate, but a fire might be expected

If I were federal investigators I would be pursuing any technicians employed by the airline that are university educated, specifically in aerospace engineering. I have had some experience myself with saboteurs - they are psychotic, extremely critical individuals, who are triggered by the eccentricities of their associates, who they secretely consider inferior. They are not unlike PhilW in fact. If I were to guess this person is pissed off having to work outside his intended field with people that are less educated, and who taunt him (like high-school children do to each other).

I think this WAS a terrorist attack, just from the coincidental facts listed above. Repetitive attacks in the same geographic location would say to me that there are at least 3 terrorist cells operating in the USA, one in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. Let's all hope I am wrong! Let's hope they aren't planning a new set of coordinated attacks. If so I might tighten security in the latter two states over the next few days as well, particularly in postal offices, and any other high traffic areas where biological weapons can be deployed.
