Muslim Denunciation of 911?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A3804-2001Nov22.html

Imagine if 19 murderous Christian fundamentalists hijacked four airplanes over Saudi Arabia and, in the name of God, crashed them into the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, destroying the holy Kaaba and killing thousands of innocent Muslim pilgrims. Could anyone doubt that the entire Christian world -- clergy and theologians, leaders and lay folk -- would rise as one to denounce the act? Yankee Stadium could not hold the trainloads of priests and preachers, reverends and rectors

*******

There are some isolated instances of Muslim denunciation of the acts but they are few and far between. The relative silence, especially here in the US, is dissapointing. Instead we are barraged with "be nice to Muslims" messages. All well and good as the worst we could do is what some yahoos did...exact retribution on innocent Muslims, and anyone who looks different, Sikhs, Hindis, etc. But for long term success against radical Muslim fundamental terrorists, there has to be pressure for Muslim leaders to openly and continually denounce any cultural support for 911 type acts of mass murder. Certainly the press would be clamoring for Christian clerics to denounce and make behavioural changes after a fundamentalist Christian atack.
Why the double standard? Why is this not discussed?
