Well Tom...
The problems are such considering we have not yet viewed an atom and particle movements can so far only be detected only in cloud and bubble chambers....
...a quantum wave form is on the magnitude of perhaps 1/100,000,000,000,000 the size of an electron or proton....
Now Intel and others are moving quickly up in the frequency game for chips...
...but the extra three years is for Patent hassles of the USPO.
All nuclear related patents are strictly monitored and foreign licensing is often denied by Uncle Sam.
SO ;-)
While the invention may indeed be done by 2230 - 2233 is the year it comes into actual usage by scientists for research. ;-)
In all seriousness...the problems for this type and level of wave detection boggle the mind. Of course progress is hard to predict. I still smile at the 1958 books that predicted the first moon landing by 2000.
I hope to be in the same laughable situation with my prediction. Hopefully some financially independent, motivated entrepreneur can see the value of investing the necessary bucks....
I wont hold my breath.
Thanks for th sarcasm though Tom.
In the old Ray Palmer pulp' Mystic they had a feature titled 'Man of Tomorrow' in which readers could guess the way the world would be in the future. A fun read now almost fifty years later.
