A little more specific: The [First] Combat Fatality
The CIA agent was the first combat fatality of the Afghan campaign but not the first fatality. There was an Air Force NCO killed in a ground accident before the bombing even started. There were two Rangers killed in a helicopter crash in Pakistan on the same evening their fellow Rangers dropped in on that airfield. There may have been a couple more soldiers killed in accidents, too. At least one sailor has also died accidentally. While these men didn't directly die as a result of combat, they still died in the service of our country. We shouldn't forget them.
