Current Events » in reply to Arkansas "Tax Me More" fund off to a slow start

Re: Chuckling . . .

“Democratic state Sen. John Riggs, who represents Little Rock and voted for the budget last April, said Gov. Mike Huckabee prioritized a bass fishing museum over student scholarship funds and teacher raises. Now, he said, the state is stuck looking for ways to raise revenue without raising taxes.”

Fascinating. And he’s against state-run lotteries, too...

Maybe if he ignores it, he’ll just go away -- come next election day. Or not.

I recall Ohio having some issues regarding a certain Rock & Roll Hall of Fame being built in Cleveland a few years ago, but it has since received so much support from tourism and the music industry that all complaints have literally vanished. Maybe museum-goers and the bass fishermen of Arkansas can get together to do likewise?
X^D

Don't get me wrong. To paraphrase Professor Hill, I consider the hours spent with a fishing rod in my hands to be golden, but come on. A fishing museum beating out pay-hikes for teachers?

"Not one child left behind."

Cheers,
Dan
