Actually, it can be ...

Back in 1990, I was stationed on a miserable little island (Shemya) at the end of the Aleutian chain. There were perhaps 300 people on the island most of the time including a couple dozen women.

Some of the women took full advantage of the situation and played the men against each other. For others, it bordered on a hostile environment. As an example, shortly before I transferred out, my squadron had a young female airman transfer in. It was immediately apparent that she was the prettiest woman on the island. There were guys hanging outside her door trying to meet her at all hours. I heard it was an unsettling experience for her, at least at first.

Now, picture an aircraft carrier with a crew of about 5,000. At most, there would be only a few hundred women on the ship. They're at sea for months at a time and the majority of the people on board are 18 to 22 years old. Having thousands of young men "all fired up" could be unpleasant if a woman isn't looking for anything other than to do her job. Our military are all volunteers. By and large, they're really good people. However, most of them are still quite young. An "all fired up" young man tends to think with his small head and that almost always leads to trouble.
