Torricelli charges dropped...
...as the last act of the prosecutor, Mary Jo White, who is leaving office. Had Torricelli been forced to resign, the acting New Jersey governor, a Republican, would have appointed a replacement, possibly threatening the slim Democratic hold on power in the Senate, and the reign of Unelected Majority Leader Daschle.
I, and other cynics, will be watching White's future career with interest. I suspect that her next position will be a highly lucrative one.
