"I fully expect the Pakistanis will do everything they can to help us locate bin Laden," Sen. John Edwards, traveling with other senators in the region, said.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan -- AP
U.S. warplanes renewed strikes against suspected terrorist hideouts in eastern Afghanistan, but leading U.S. senators said suspicion was increasing that Osama bin Laden had fled across the border into Pakistan.

The United Nations envoy to Afghanistan, Lakhdar Brahimi, toured mine clearance efforts Monday at the airport in Kabul, the Afghan capital, and said he had discussed civilian casualties from bombings with U.S. special envoy, Zalmay Khalilzad.

Mr. Brahimi said he hadn't asked Khalilzad for the U.S. to halt the bombing, which the new Afghan interim administration has said should be better coordinated to avoid civilian casualties.

"We've talked about the civilian victims of the bombings," Mr. Brahimi said. " It is a concern of his as much as it is of mine. We have no disagreement on this."
