This is shaping up as such a fascinating conflict. The brilliant performance of the American and allied forces, coupled with the wide-eyed, suicidal tenacity of the enemy--not to mention the potential for further disaster on our soil--have created, imho, a remarkable situation with a fairly high "white-knuckle" factor.

I don't want to sound flippant, like I'm sitting on the sidelines munching popcorn, but we are certainly witness to very interesting times.

On September 11, I was so angry and unnerved that these pathetic fanatics had hijacked our history, steering it down a dark and dangerous path. Now, it's gratifying and humbling to watch as our Forces take decisive control of the conflict. I guess it kind of reminds me of Churchill's praise of the RAF during the Second World War...never have so many owed so much to so few.

Our military writes history with its every move. I hope that more and more of their brave stories come to light.
