"Ministers of the Taliban and senior Taliban are coming one by one and surrendering and joining with us," Khalid Pashtoon said, adding that anyone who surrendered would be eligible for an amnesty, except for Omar.
Hopes were raised yesterday for new clues to the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden and Mullah Mohammed Omar after the capture of two high-ranking al-Qaeda members which followed the surrender of three former Taliban ministers.
"They become very interesting to us because they're part of a worldwide network of terrorism that al-Qaeda supports," General Richard Myers, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said.
The new Afghan government said yesterday that bin Laden and Mullah Omar were believed to still be in the country and the three-month-old US bombing campaign would not stop until the manhunt was over.
But a senior minister said Kabul wanted better coordination of air raids to prevent civilian deaths.
