Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle claims that $1.35 trillion tax cut passed last year by Congress is the major cause of the economic slowdown
Don’t be fooled by his nice smile and gentle demeanor. Sen. Tom Daschle, D- S.D., is the roughest of Democrats right now – seemingly committed to obstructing any attempt by Republican President George W. Bush to stimulate the economy.
Up next: blaming Bush for the state of the economy by whining about the $1.35 trillion tax cut passed last year.
The senate majority leader blames the cuts for the present recession. He went so far as to accuse the Republicans of causing the “most dramatic fiscal deterioration” in American history. Nonsense.
Not only that, he went on to dismiss the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and war in Afghanistan as being major causes of the recession. At the same time, the only solution Daschle seems to have is more spending on government programs, which would require new revenue from somewhere. Meanwhile, it appears Bush is focusing the discussion on job creation.
