From the Sunday Times:
...Last year Bjorn Lomborg claimed in his book "The Skeptical Environmentalist" that many of mankind’s worst fears — such as mass extinction of species, climate change and population growth — were largely unfounded.
The book has provoked scientists and environmental groups into producing articles, websites and pamphlets rubbishing its author and his work.
One of the most hostile, in Nature magazine, likens him to apologists for the Nazis. He has been physically attacked and has had to employ bodyguards.
If anyone still has any doubt that the leadership of the modern environmental movement is a political movement whose primary goal is the imposition of totalitarianism over the ruins of industrial society, then they are either so dense or stubborn to argue with, or actually part of the problem.
Note the remarkable similarity in how they treat this scientist with how conservatives and other dissenters are treated at universities and other forums.
These people aren't about "saving the whales" anymore, if they ever were. It's possible they are not even about socialism vs. capitalism anymore. What they want is you, your kids, your friends, and all of humanity dead, dead, dead. This is not hyperbole. They have said as much, in so many words.* What these people see when they look in a mirror is probably a speculation best left to the psychiatric industry, but these are not people who should be placed in charge of our industrial policy.

*A few excerpts from an article on this site:
...The young, and all of us, are constantly being bombarded with hundreds of messages daily that the world is about to be destroyed. Human beings are the culprits, technology the means, and capitalism the reason. As Helen Caldicott preaches: "Capitalism is destroying the earth. Cuba is a wonderful country. What Castro's done is superb."
...As Stewart Brand said in the Whole Earth Catalog, "We have wished, we ecofreaks, for a disaster or for a social change to come and bomb us into the Stone Age, where we might live like Indians in our valley, with our localism, our appropriate [read primitive] technology, our gardens, our homemade religion — guilt-free at last!"
The antihuman bias of Brand is not an anomaly. Paul Ehrlich, the grand guru of fraudulent ecology, said the American people are "a cancer on the planet." Environmentalists David Graber, in a review of The End of Nature for the Los Angeles Times said: "Human happiness and certainly human fecundity, are not as important as a wild and healthy planet. I know social scientists who remind that people are part of nature, but it isn't true. Somewhere along the line — at about a billion years ago, maybe half that we quit the contract and became a cancer. ...Until such a time as Homosapiens should decide to rejoin nature, some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along." Eco-philosopher Patrick Corbett said that it is not perverse to prefer the lives of mice over "the lives of men and women" because "animals are in many respects superior to ourselves". Earth First leader David Forman said: "We advocate bio-diversity for bio-diversity's sake. That says man is no more important than any other species... It may well take our extinction to set things straight." The Earth First publication said, "as radical environmentalists, we can see AIDS not as a problem but a necessary solution."
In the twisted world of the radical environmentalist humans are called diseases while diseases are called "cures". Children are a form of pollution, not a joy. David Brower of Friends of the Earth said that having children should be "a punishable crime against society, unless the parents hold a government license... All potential parents [should be] required to use contraceptive chemicals, the government issuing antidotes to citizens chosen for childbearing." Kenneth Boulding, being an economists as well as an environmentalist, instead argued: "The right to have children should be a marketable commodity, bought and traded by individuals, but absolutely limited by the state."
Another Enviro-Nazi update...
