Re: Yes, and not really . . .

Yes:
Downsizing sucks, big-time.

Not really:
My plan-B has always been me. My skills, knowledge and learnability are easily marketable, particularly in the Columbus area.

I just have to keep remembering that this is only an opinion, and it's been rocky for a lot of companies out there since Sept. 11. As for WorldCom, should liquidation occur, I also have to remember that I am among the untouchables. UUNet. We are the ones who rake in the dough and keep WorldCom afloat. It's been this way ever since they sucked me in as a networker for CompuServe. We keep corporations communicating around the globe, and the bucks are huge.

Real huge.

At the moment, and reading a very recent email from Bernie Ebbers (he actually looks grudgier than this, and I’ve never seen him smile), “WorldCom has a solid customer base, good cash flow and $10 billion on hand.” That’s ready cash, not to be confused with assets, and that, my friend, is a hell of a lot of buoyancy.

Thanks,
Dan
