Oh Tom, I do hope what you have written was your hatred of looking at an empty page and not really reflective of your thought process and belief structure.
To really believe our system of government is so corrupt and so bereft of moral and ethical content that nothing can save it is: (1.) an indictment of a system that is acknowledged as the best in the world—that many of us went to war to defend, or (2.) the result of a deep felt wound from some injustice suffered at the hands of some politician and projected from that painful, specific incident to the whole system.
In the first case, there is no way we can ever come together. You are a sick puppy and beyond help. Let’s hope the first case senerio is bogus. If your only thesis is one of anti-government let me face wall street and make me obedience by quoting your deity—Ayn Rand.
“The purpose of “anti-concepts” is to obliterate certain concepts without public discussion; and, as a means to that end, to make that discussion unintelligible, and to induce the same disintegration in the mind of any man who accepts them.”
For my clarification please tell more about the system you perceive as demanding bribery and corruption as well as a flow of money from business to legislators. For you have obviously been privy to information I have missed. Did you mean this awful state of affairs is reflective of which government, or did you mean all government? I am providing a list for your convenience:
Federal government of these we have only 1 1
State governments of these we have 50
Local governments of these we have 87,453
Counties 3,043
Cities & Towns 19,372
Townships 16,629
Special Districts 34,683
School Districts 13,726
For a total of 87,504
Now going back to your reply, you said something to the effect that government was corrupt and the system demands corruption. There was an inference that you wanted our government changed, scrapped or something drastic because there was no way to cure the corruption? I hope I am not mis-stating you here.
Again, to smooth my confusion, just which of the US 87,000 governments are you condemning? Or, are you against all of them?
You see, I will admit to loving my country and not looking favorably upon those that seek to undermine the national purpose, common interests, and responsibilities that bind us together in the pursuit of these goals.
As an unabashed liberal, I freely admit to different paths to meet these goals, but I don’t maintain the same flexibility towards those that seek to destroy America itself.
