What makes the AGs think they would understand the source code if they had it?

AGs (sometimes referred to as "Aspiring Governors") have never impressed me with their ability to understand even fundamental computer concepts. What makes them think they could understand the millions of lines of source code that make up an operating system? I've heard estimates that Windows 2000 alone has somewhere from 20-30 million lines of code, probably most of it in C with some C++ and perhaps some assembler. The Win 9x-Me code has some commonality with NT/2000/XP but there are also substancial differences that would amount to many million more lines of code.

Just guessing, I'd estimate the total code line count for the different versions of Windows would easily exceed 50 million lines. Printed out, that would take about a million pages to show it all. Of course, Microsoft could strip out all of the comments to save space! ;}

Besides, C has been described as a "write only language" because you can write it but can't read it. Try reading a C program out loud. Could you imagine the AGs trying to get a jury (carefully selected to be computer illiterate) to understand the fine points of C/C++ code as it relates to OS architecture?
