Nothing new...
Most of my tax dollars go into politicians dropping money on people to get their approval and votes. In this country, not Afghanistan. No one has yet gone to the point of just sticking the pork cash in envelopes and dropping it from airplanes across the United States with a "vote for me" poster inside, but it would probably be easier and eliminate a lot of the middlemen if they did.
