BROWNSVILLE, TX
Border Patrol watch commander Tom Slowinski couldn’t say Monday whether the FBI was interviewing the Afghani and Pakistani men whom Border Patrol agents apprehended Sunday morning near La Gloria.

Slowinski did say the FBI would eventually question the men. Calls to FBI offices in Brownsville, McAllen, San Antonio and Houston yielded no comments Monday, which was Presidents Day, a national holiday.

Two Afghanis, ages 18 and 28, and a 43-year-old Pakistani were taken into custody along with three Mexicans at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Slowinski said.

The FBI will investigate whether any of the men had any terrorist links, he said.
