TEHRAN, Iran
Afghanistan's interim leader Hamid Karzai called on Monday on exiled Afghan professionals and experts to return home to help rebuild their country.

"We call on all Afghans who have acquired professional specialisations to return to their country, and we ask Iran to help us in this", Karzai said in his speech to Iranian entrepreneurs, many of whom employ Afghan professionals.

Some two million Afghan refugees live in Iran, including a number of executive employees and teachers, and many building workers.

Karzai also said his government had tried "to reestablish contacts between Afghan banks and foreign banks" and wanted to "strengthen its currency."

"We are giving priority to foreign investments and are going to move to encourage and make things easier for foreigners investing with us," Karzai added.

He called on Iranian entrepreneurs to "come without fear to Afghanistan to invest to take part in the rebuilding of the country."
