Daschle's objective here is obvious--set it up so that despite any other successes in the war against terrorism, the inability to take down one single terrorist--bin Laden--means the total failure of Bush's foreign policy. The parrot-like yammering of Byrd and other Democrats on this same subject is proof of an organized effort in this area.
Bush and his administration said from day 1 that it was not just about Osama, and never would be. Bush said specifically that there should be no illusions that this war would be over soon or easily. Americans remember this.
This is desperation on the Democrats' part. The economy is rapidly turning around, the Enron gambit failed, and the 2002 election is approaching them like a screaming locomotive hauling two hundred freight cars full of bridge parts.
Look for Illegitimate Majority Leader Daschle and his crew to pull something really drastic in the next couple of months. Should be amusing.
