VHP Issues Ultimatum to Govt

Outrightly rejecting Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's appeal to postpone the Ram temple agitation, the VHP and Hindu religious leaders on Monday announced that they would go ahead with their plan to shift the carved stones to Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya on March 15.

The VHP leaders have also warned the government that if the Centre would not allow them to move the pillars to the disputed land they would violate the law.

"Our programme remains unchanged. It will remain unchanged," Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas Trust president Mahant Paramahans Ramchandra Das told a crowded press conference after a meeting of the trust in New Delhi.
