Urban rescue vehicles
I came across this by accident. The seems Ray LoPresti (a aeronautical engineer famous for his drag reducing modifications to production planes) is working on a series of VTOL vehicles that among other things have the ability to dock with buildings. We'll see if he can get the products financed and in use.

He's also working with the Israelis on their TurboHawk vehicle designed for similar missions.
