I think we can all agree that this situation sucks.
It all started when millions of acts of private generosity toward the victims in New York were trampled into pulp by bloated Congressmen, trying to get into the act by showering everyone with money that came from other people's pockets.
Something that was perceived gratefully by the victims as acts of charity suddenly changed into that ghastly entitlement mentality that our beloved government has carefully and painstakingly brainwashed Americans into--the better to keep voters on a tight leash.
The same mentality that causes pressure groups to march on Washington DEMANDING the wealth of fellow citizens as their right, took over.
Now we have what the entitlement culture breeds: vultures tearing at a corpse and each other instead of the kindness of strangers and gratitude. Suddenly everyone thinks the other guy is getting his share. The fact that the vultures are real victims and not the pretend ones that so often do this, only makes it sadder.
It's fascinating, really. If your neighbor came over with money and materials to help rebuild your house after a fire, you would be grateful, and eager to do him a favor in return. The idea of shouting angrily at him that it isn't enough, that you need more, and that he should GIVE you more, and that he is a greedy, mean-spirited, materialistic bastard for NOT giving you more, is so revolting to normal people that it's hard to even imagine doing such a thing.
Yet, when the taxpayers give certain people an outright gift*, like Medicare, welfare, prescription drugs, or any of a number of things, these same normal people are angry when it seems insufficient, and think nothing of demanding more. Then when it's not forthcoming, they berate the taxpayers for their greed. What is astonishing is that most people I point this discrepancy out to are so immersed in this filthy concept that they don't even understand what I'm trying to point out.
The entitlement culture. Courtesy of the welfare state, and your Democratic Party, growing each day as more people believe their existence flows only from Washington, DC.
*and yes, it IS a gift goddam it. Don't try any of that entitlement and social responsibility crap on me.
What happens when charity becomes entitlement
