Bush is in no political danger, nor will he be if he shows some 'flexibility', or doesn't completely live up to all of his campaign promises. Who has kept all their promises all the time anyway? And even if he agreed to trade tariffs on two items, that won't bother me as long as overall trade tariffs are reduced over time, and I think they will be.
Keep in mind that we now live in the post Sep. 11th world. As long as President Bush acts forcefully to protect Americans' security, and continues to pound the crap out of terrorists, and those states that sponsor them, he'll have the gratitude of the American people, for a long, long time, and a substantial amount of forgivefulness for whatever he doesn't deliver, and what would in other times have disappointed them.
Priorities have changed. That old slogan "it's the economy, stupid" has been replaced to a large degree by "it's the security, stupid".
Current Events » in reply to "Flexibility..." Well, I suppose that's one way to put it.
That's an exageration, I think
