<MARSEILLE, France (AP) A fire destroyed a synagogue in this Mediterranean port city at the close of a weekend that brought a rash of attacks targeting Jews in France, police said Monday. No injuries were reported.
I recall one person killed right after 911 because he looked mid-eastern and wore a turban but no Mosques have been burned that I am aware of. And, I am sure we would all be aware of it. Overall we seem to be doing a good job, all things considered, for a country with 5-6 times the population of France.
Maybe I'm wrong but I get a sense that France feels powerless to do anything more than keep this kind of thing as quiet as possible and plead with the Arabs not to do it any more.
As far as the remarks on foreign policy, about 75-80 percent of the country seems to think that we are on the right track, heh heh.
I will be the first to admit that we are seeing mixed signals on the problems in Israel and somebody needs to get everyone on the same page. Considering how complicated it is over there, if Bush can get all his people in sync in the next week he will be doing an outstanding job. The Dems don't have a consensus on this either.
