Re: an exciting time in Cdn politics

The great thing about conservative (right-wing, whatever term you prefer) is that their cost-cutting policies tend to help create wealth and prosperity. The downside is that this course only works during a period of economic continuity. As soon as a recession hits, businesses slash & burn, letting loose excess employees to fend for themselves. Economists argue that his "reallocation" of human resources is the greatest strength of free market capitalism, and ensures that people go where they are more needed. However this assumes that the "invisible hand" has some inherent intelligence and is guiding people into new jobs where they will prosper.

This is an error. The "invisible hand" has no intelligence beyond cost-cutting, and many unfortunate people find themselves homeless instead of re-assigned to a more appropriate job. Conservative politics may therefore be seen as "unintelligent", since their aim is to strip away any social safety-nets that would help people find new jobs. Certainly the Liberals or NDP would be more intelligent choices. They do not abandon free-market economics because it obviously generates wealth, but they recognize that "invisible hand" is simply an absence of concern for people - a negligent policy. The "invisible hand" is NOT a "helping hand" during hard economic times.
