United Nations aid workers are appealing for more funds to help repatriate hundreds of thousands of Afghanistan refugees from Iran and Pakistan.
Iran, Afghanistan and the UN refugee agency, the UNHCR, have signed an accord setting out the terms for the voluntary return of tens of thousands of Afghan refugees from Iran.
UNHCR spokeswoman Melita Sunjic, says Afghan refugees are voluntarily returning in overwhelmingly large numbers:
"We started a repatriation exercise on the first of March this year and our planning figure for the whole year of 2002 was 400,000. But now one month into this repatriation programme we already repatriated more than 150,000."
