Sometimes I worry that we are giving Israel more support than they deserve. Jews were enslaved by Egypt thousands of years ago, massacred by Nazis during WWII, but that does not mean that they have the moral high ground. There are many other peoples that have suffered like them, and worse. They are not unique. The fact that the Christian religion is derived from Jewish history makes me wonder if we are giving them too much support. Does the founding religion of Western society make us subservient to Israeli policy? I think it makes us vulnerable to conflict of interest, when we should be supporting peace initiatives, we find ourselves supporting Israeli aggression instead. Do we support any side of the conflict in Serbia, or Rwanda, or other countries where people are massacred. No. It is pure racism with religious justification.
I do not want to support Israel merely because of historical religious ties. If I decide to support them, it will only be if they show substantial efforts to make peace. So far I haven't seen any effort at peace by the Israelis, only foreign officials attempting to convince them to talk. Right now I don't think we should support them.
