<Tactical Mobil Robots continue to be of strong interest to the military. Although they've come a long way recently, they are still far from deployment. On the other hand, guided robots were used to snoop thru WTC wreckage. And tactical military guys have now grokked the scheme I've advocated of using them to replace Vietnam style tunnel rats. I see another early use being building recon in urban warfare to minimize our troop casualties. Good Wired article on a topic I really find interesting. Somebody's gonna make billion$ on robots starting this decade.
