Current Events » in reply to This article is one I have posted before. It is very instructive.

It's amusing to see this largely ignored by the board.

Let a nun make charges against the Israeli Army she in her nun-hood cannot immediately prove, and there is an immediate outcry.

Let a Palestinian complain about home invasions, killing civilians, and the assertion cannot be true because it's from a Palestinian.

Let Colin Powell say he hasn't seen evidence of a mass grave, and it's believed. That impartial people haven't been able to look doesn't matter.People believe Powell.

That Sharon made the mistake of leaving bodies behind once, and surely wouldn't do that again is irrelevant.

Point out how the Palestinians may have some legitimate grievances, as do the Israelis, and it's ignored. Show how the peace agreement wouldn't have been acceptable to anyone with an opposable thumb, and that isn't touched. Those posts just sit there, like an elephant in the living room, best left alone. Demonstrates that facts cannot impact prejudices, that the derided "standpoint epistomology" is alive and well.

Sigh.
