The Jewish religion is very resilient, Ed, and those of the communities who support Israel can be just as fanatical as any other religious zealot. No, there have been open attacks on Israel ever since the end of WW II, when the US said, "Israel...? What a neat idea!" The Jewish people are awaiting the coming of the Messiah, and if that holiest of all events should take another 1,000 years to realize, Israel is where they'll be found. They’re in for the duration, and they’ll be rotating troops in from Jewish centers all around the globe to support the Holy Land.

I think the Middle East will just have to get used to them,
